Where Every Sip Tells a Story
About Our Company

A Journey Through Kenya's Wine Country. From Vine to Glass, Crafting Elegance, One Bottle at a Time.

From a solitary house overlooking the rolling hills of Buuri, a vision was born, to create a distinctive, homegrown Kenyan wine that speaks honestly of where it comes from.

The Seven Mavericks came together with a shared commitment to organic farming and careful vinification, ensuring every bottle carries the true character of this land. Their philosophy is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: that the best wines come from healthy soils, vibrant ecosystems, and a deep, harmonious relationship between the land, the vines, and the people who nurture them.

At La Sambara, every sip is an invitation to experience Kenya’s highlands at their finest.

Origin of the Grape

At the heart of La Sambara lies a deep respect for the journey of every vine. After extensive research and careful study of the land, climate, and soil, our team discovered that the grape varieties best suited to flourish here were those originating from France a country long celebrated for its extraordinary winemaking heritage. These vines were thoughtfully selected not only for their resilience, but for their remarkable ability to produce grapes of exceptional depth, elegance, and character.

Rooted in the fertile volcanic soil of Buuri and nurtured under the warmth of the Kenyan sun, these French varietals adapted to their new home with a quiet, confident ease, as though the land had been waiting for them all along. Each vine, tended with patience and dedication through every season, began to tell a new story. A Kenyan story. One of craftsmanship, passion, and a profound connection to the soil that now shapes every bottle of La Sambara.

Organic Farming

From the first bud to the final harvest, La Sambara grapes embody the essence of this land reflecting its unique character, its flavours, and the unhurried rhythms of the seasons. The vineyard is carefully maintained using organic farming methods that steer clear of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. Crop rotation, cover cropping, and natural pest control are the order of every day here creating a biodiverse environment that supports healthy soil, robust vines, and wines that taste exactly as the land intended.

Because at La Sambara, we believe great wine doesn’t just come from great grapes. It comes from great soil, tended with care, respect, and a long-term commitment to the land that sustains it all.

Born of Kenyan Soil. Crafted by Kenyan Hands.

Born of Kenyan soil and brought to life by skilled Kenyan hands, La Sambara is a celebration of Kenyan craftsmanship at its finest. From the careful harvest of every Chenin Blanc and Shiraz grape to the final pour in your glass, each step is guided by the passion, experience, and dedication of Kenyan artisans who take immense pride in what they create.
